Modular home in Gibson, WA
For many regional WA families, the farm is more than a business; it is a legacy. However, as family businesses grow and multigenerational needs evolve, finding high-quality housing in regional areas like Scaddan and Gibson can be a challenge.
When Zara and Josh reached out to TR Homes, they were living in a rental on a neighbouring property. With four families working within their large-scale farming operation, the priority was clear: they needed a beautiful, functional home of their own on their Gibson block.

Why Choose Modular Builders for the Farm?
Zara and Josh did their research, looking at various transportable companies before choosing TR Homes. As experienced modular builders, we understand the unique pressures of the WA agricultural sector.
“We had seen they did lots of homes for lots of farmers and wanted to see if they could help us create our home,” Zara says. “The journey working with TR Homes was amazing, enjoyable, and easy. They really worked with us when we could get to Perth and made our farm home come to life.”
Choosing to build modular homes in regional locations offers a level of certainty and speed that traditional site-building often lacks, especially when the seeding and harvest seasons wait for no one. Customising the Sandfire Design
While the Sandfire is one of our most popular designs, Zara and Josh needed it to fit their specific lifestyle. We worked closely with them to modify the floor plan, ensuring it would serve as a “forever” farmhouse for their growing family.
Key customisations included:
- A dedicated study featuring modern barn doors.
- A scullery and a central kitchen island for busy family mealtimes.
- An enhanced walk-in robe and a double vanity in the ensuite.
- An extended laundry bench to handle the demands of farm life.

Life on the Land

Handover took place in early 2025, just in time for the family to settle in before the busy farming calendar took over. For Zara, the connection between the interior and the landscape is the highlight of the build.
“The house is surrounded by beautiful landscape, and every room in the house with a window looks out to our beautiful farm,” she explains.
The interior reflects a modern rural aesthetic, featuring:
- Soaring raked ceilings that create a sense of space.
- A cosy fireplace for Goldfields-Esperance winters.
- Durable Blackbutt vinyl plank flooring.
- An Alder Tapware Lynx dual shower with a rain head—the perfect luxury after a hard day’s work on the land.
Built for the Future
For Zara, Josh, and their daughter Hallie, this home represents a long-awaited milestone. While landscaping has taken a back seat to farming priorities, the family is enjoying the comfort of a home designed specifically for their needs.
At TR Homes, we are proud to be WA’s true country builder. Whether you are in the Wheatbelt or the Great Southern, or anywhere in WA, we specialise in delivering high-quality modular homes that stand the test of time.
